This production premiered as part of the City Center season, having played 15 performances from April 27 through May 8, 1960, before transferring to the 46th Street Theatre. Before transferring to Broadway, the role of Susan Mahoney was played by Anita Alvarez, the Sheriff was played by Tom McElhany, Mr. Shears was played by Joe Ross, 1st Deputy was played by Don Gray; additional singers were John Boni, Hugh Dilworth, Don Gray, and Marnell Higley; additional dancers were Marilynn Allwyn, Gene Gavin, Ellen Halpin, Mavis Ray, and Jaime Juan Rogers.
