Biography: Romulus Linney was born Romulus Zachariah Linney IV on September 21, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Maitland and Romulus Zachariah Linney III. He studied at Oberlin College and Yale School of Drama. He married Ann Leggett, and then Margaret Jane Andrews. His daughter Laura was from his third marriage to Laura Callanan. His other daughter is Susan Linney. He served as chair of the MFA Playwriting program at Columbia University. He was the first writer spotlighted at the Signature Theatre Company.
