Biography: Eddie Bert was born Edward Joseph Bertolatus on May 16, 1922 in Yonkers, New York to Edward Bertolatus and Elizabeth Futica. He played in a United States Army band during World War II. He married Mollie Petrillo, with whom he had two daughters—Sharon Johnson and Jane Banza. He was a jazz trombonist in various pit orchestras and in many commercials. From 1968 to 1972 he was in Dick Cavett's television show's house band. He worked with multiple big bands, singers, and esteemed musicians including: Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Lena Horne, Bobby Short, and Thelonious Monk.
