Biography: Philip Seymour Hoffman was born on July 23, 1967, in Fairport, New York to Marilyn Loucks and Gordon Hoffman. He began acting in high school, and then attended Circle in the Square Theater School and New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He appeared in over 50 films in less than 25 years. He served as artistic director of the Labyrinth Theater Company for a time. His longtime partner was costume designer and Labyrinth Theater Company artistic director Mimi O'Donnell, with whom he had three children: Cooper, Tallulah and Willa.
