Biography: Dolores Mae Wilson was born on August 9, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Henry Webster Wilson and Elisa Elizabeth Lazzaro. She began singing on the radio at age 16, and then travelled to Venice to study with the famed soprano Toti Dal Monte. After making her Met debut at age 25, she appeared with the company 26 times between 1954 and 1959.
