Biography: Roger Rees was born on May 5, 1944, in Aberystwyth, Wales to William and Doris Rees. He attended Camberwell College of Arts and the Slade School of Fine Art. He painted scenery at the Wimbledon Theater in south London before becoming an actor there in 1965. He performed in various shows with the Royal Shakespeare Company, spending over two decades there. He played the title character in "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby" in London and on Broadway. He served as an associate artistic director of the Bristol Old Vic from 1985 to 1987. He served as the artistic director of the Williamstown Theater Festival from 2004 to 2007.
