Biography: John Emmet Raitt was born on January 29, 1917 in Santa Ana, California to Archie J. Raitt and the former Stella Walton. He studied at the University of Redlands. His professional debut was in the chorus of "HMS Pinafore" with the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera in 1940. He married Marjorie Haydock, with whom he had his children Bonnie, Steven, and David. He then married Marjorie Haydock. His third marriage was to Rosemary Kraemer.
