Biography: Matt Mattox was born on August 18, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was an apprentice of the respected jazz dance pioneer Jack Cole. He served as a fighter pilot with the Army Air Forces in World War II. In 1975, he formed a concert jazz dance company in England called JazzArt. He became an influential contemporary jazz dance teacher, and moved to Perpignan, France.
