Description
John C. Portman, Jr., architect. In the 1980s, the Gaiety, Astor, Helen Hayes (46th St), Morosco, and Bijou theatres were razed--amidst a storm of protest--to build the Marriott Marquis hotel and theatre. The Marquis Theatre opened in 1986. Operated by the Nederlanders.
