ABOUT THIS THEATRE

Description
One of the first theatres in New York City to de-segregate, allowing African-American patrons to sit in the orchestra and not just the balcony. After life as a vaudeville house and a movie theatre, the Lafayette became a church in the 1950s. As of 2005, it was the Williams Christian Methodist Episcopal church.
