Cort Theatre

138 W. 48th St., New York, NY
Seats (approximate): 1084

Thomas W. Lamb, architect. Built by John Cort, who owned it until 1927, when it became a Shubert house. It was briefly leased as a television studio from 1969-1972, hosting "The Merv Griffin Show." In recent years, bookings have been lighter, often attributed to its east of Broadway location.

To learn more about the history of the Cort Theatre, see historical information provided by the Shubert Organization and Spotlight on Broadway's video on the Cort Theatre.
