ABOUT THIS THEATRE

Description
Henry B. Herts, architect. Built as a joint venture of Winthrop Ames and Lee Shubert. Named after another Booth Theatre in which Ames' father invested. After Ames' retirement in 1932, the Shuberts leased it for fifteen years, then purchased it in 1948. In 1979, designer Melanie Kahane led a restoration of the venue.
