Helen Beverly
Performer
Helen Beverley performed in Yiddish theatre and Yiddish films, who was married to actor Lee J. Cobb,appeared in a series of Yiddish films, including "Green Fields," based on the Peretz Hirshbein play, in which she was the lead; "The Light Ahead," co-directed by Edgar G. Ulmer, who piloted several well-regarded Yiddish movies; and "Overture to Glory."
Ms. Beverley also had some roles in some standard Hollywood films, including the Charlie Chan picture "Black Magic," 1944's "The Master Race," and the musical "Stairway for a Star." Her last screen appearance was in the 1961 Susan Hayward film "Ada."
She made a single Broadway appearance, in 1939's Clean Beds .
