Biography: Richard Johnson was born on July 30, 1927 in Upminster, Essex. He was the son of Frances Louisa Olive and Keith Holcombe Johnson. After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, he first acted professionally in John Gielgud's Hamlet in 1944 in Manchester. Johnson was married four times -- his second to American actress Kim Novak whom he appeared in the film The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders with in 1965. He is survived by his wife Lynne Gurney, and four children.

Film/TV Credits: His film credits include "Khartoum" (with Laurence Olivier and Charlton Heston), "The Pumpkin Eater," "Turtle Diary," "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas," "The Haunting," "Deadlier Than the Male," and "Some Girls Do."

He was a founding member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
