Alvin Cooperman, began his career as an office boy for the Shubert Organization at age sixteen. He graduated to booking shows for them, producing, and managing theatres.
In 1951, he tried his hand in television, becoming the production manager for NBC's "Texaco Star Theater" starring Milton Berle. He also produced "Shirley Temple's Fairy Tales" and the fourth season of "The Untouchables" from 1962-63.
His theatrical bookings included “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Cabaret”. He also produced a play, Masquerade, starring Veronica Lake, but it never made it to Broadway.
Mr. Cooperman also served as executive vice president and director of Madison Square Garden. In 1969 he started the MSG Network to broadcast Garden events — the first regional sports network in North America.
