Peter J. Hall was the Dallas Opera's resident costume designer. He also designed for La Scala, Covent Garden, the Old Vic, the Vienna State Opera, the Chicago Lyric Opera and others. In New York, his work was seen at American Ballet Theater, the New York City Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and occasionally on Broadway.

For the Met, Hall designed costumes for 13 operas between 1972 and 1994, including productions by the eminent director Franco Zeffirelli of Verdi's "Otello," and Puccini's "Tosca" and "Bohème." He was the Met's resident costume designer from the late 1970s to the late '80s.
